What this site is

MaterialCalc is 60 construction calculators that give two numbers rather than one: how much material a job takes, and what that material costs. Most calculators stop at the quantity, which leaves you doing the arithmetic that actually decides whether you can afford the project.

Everything runs in your browser. There is no account, no signup, no file upload and nothing to install. Type your dimensions and the number updates as you go.

Who runs it

It is built and maintained by one person — Çağatay Kılınç — as an independent project, not by a manufacturer, supplier or contractor network. Nobody pays to be recommended here, and no calculator steers you toward a particular brand.

Where the numbers come from

Bag yields, densities, spacings and code limits are taken from published product data and the model building codes, and each one carries its source and the date it was last checked. Prices come from big-box retail shelf prices and regional supplier quotes, last verified 09/01/2026.

All of it is published on the methodology page — every price, every assumption, every source. If a result looks wrong, that page tells you exactly what it assumed, so you can check the assumption rather than guess at it.

Costs are always shown as a range, never a single figure, and the range widens when an input is genuinely uncertain. A calculator that quotes an exact number for something like a short-load fee or a labor rate is being more confident than the data allows.

How it is funded

By advertising, and in future possibly by affiliate links to suppliers. Ads never appear above a calculator or its result — an ad in front of the answer is a worse experience than the revenue is worth. Nothing you type is sold, shared or sent anywhere; see the privacy page.

Corrections
