These are estimates

Everything on this site is an estimate for planning and budgeting. It is not a quote, not an engineered design, and not a substitute for your local building code. Material quantities depend on site conditions this site cannot see, and prices depend on your supplier on the day.

Verify quantities against your own plans before ordering, and have anything structural — beam sizing, foundations, retaining walls over 4 ft — designed by a qualified engineer. The assumptions behind every figure are published on the methodology page so you can check them.

No warranty

The site is provided as is. We make no warranty that any figure is accurate, complete or fit for your particular project, and we accept no liability for loss arising from relying on it. If a number here disagrees with your contractor, your inspector or your code official, they are right and this site is wrong.

Acceptable use

You may use these calculators freely, for personal or commercial work, including on jobs you are paid for. You may not scrape the site in bulk, republish its content as your own, or present its output as a professional estimate you prepared.

Changes

Prices, assumptions and formulas are revised as sources are re-checked. The review dates published alongside each figure show when that last happened. These terms may change, and the date at the top of this page tells you when.
